Public health is about health promotion and disease and injury prevention through research, community intervention, and education—as well as eradicating health disparities.
It involves disseminating reliable information for policy decisions; identifying systemic inequalities and problems; protecting health and safety through education and research; and fostering partnerships with individuals, communities, and organizations to promote good health.

The MPH competencies guide the development of the program curriculum and learning activities for the core and required courses in the MPH and MS curriculum. Students are able to obtain dual master’s degrees through the following concentration areas:
Students follow Public Health Practice Program Level Competencies learning to work effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams to develop, manage, and evaluate public health programs designed to address health disparate populations. The dual Master of Public Health degrees prepare students for careers in government settings, hospitals, and community health centers. It is anticipated that graduates will occupy positions such as Medical and Health Services Manager, Public Health Management Analyst, Regional Medical Director, Public Health Educator, Community Health Worker, Health Communication Specialist, Hospital Administrator, Director of PubIic Health Agencies, Director of Programs and Services, amongst others.
The dual Master of Science degrees are designed for individuals who seek training in environmental health research and practice. It is anticipated that graduates will occupy positions as Project Leaders, Program Directors, and Research Personnel in academic, government, corporate, community and industrial settings.
As a leading medical university in the Gulf Region, GMU operates its own network of hospitals and clinics. Its Thumbay Institutes act as a hub for research and continuous professional development. Spread across 25 acres in Ajman, the main campus houses world-class laboratories, classrooms, and an extensive library. Students enjoy shops, restaurants, and indoor and outdoor sports complexes.
